The Committee have decided that all gate, shop and raffle receipts taken in on the night of the Galway United game on Saturday 21st September will go directly to the Club's Academy. This is the last league game of the season and we hope that everyone will back this initiative and come along on the night to support the Academy teams
The funds raised will be put towards improving and updating the equipment used by all the Academy teams in order to give them the best possible opportunities as they strive to improve their standard of play and to assist with the expansion of the Academy by the addition of more teams.
We will be running a raffle on the night, which will take place at half time in the match, and we have already confirmed six of the prizes on offer which are A. Two tickets for the Ireland V Denmark match in the Aviva Stadium on the 18th November and B. Two Tickets for the Ireland V New Zealand game in the Aviva Stadium on the 14th November C. A meal for two(with wine) in the Athlone Springs Hotel D. A hamper of skin care products from Thérapie Clinic E.€200 worth of product from the Ronseal range at www.ronseal.com. F. Three month membership in Zen Leisure & Fitness at the Athlone Springs Hotel. We will be adding additional prizes to the raffle and if anyone would like to donate a prize we would be delighted to receive it.
We will also be using the occasion to present the medals to our all-conquering U15 girls team who completed the double earlier this year when they won the U15 Midland Schoolboy/Girl League and Cup and in doing so lost only one match along the way.
This is such a worthwhile endeavour that all the club volunteers such as officials, stewards, coaches and the ladies in the shop will also be paying in on the night and we would ask that season tickets holders consider paying in on the night as well.
The Academy has been a great success at the Club thanks in no small part to the coaches who are all qualified up to A-Licence level, vetted and constantly reassessed by going through continuous professional development to ensure a high standard and all of which is at their own expense. The Club has also worked hard to improve facilities for all the teams and a huge success has been the installation of the 4G Astro Turf on the main pitch which has ensured that all the teams have a quality pitch both for training and matches and we have not had to cancel any matches due to an unplayable pitch this season.
It is vitally important that we continue to improve the facilities for our players and to that end we hope that you can support us on the night and come along with your family and friends to what will be a very exciting evening.
